Almost eight years ago, Enrico Flaccovio called me on the phone and it took him almost two hours to convince me to write the SEO Gardening Manual. In hindsight I would slap myself because I was about to say no , convinced that publishing my ideas on this blog was enough to reach the people who were interested in my way of seeing SEO. And I was wrong, because out there it was (and is) full of people who want to read (good) books on topics that can change their lives or at least provide a direction to make the attempt. Many think that writing a book is important for personal branding, but in reality - and it took me years to understand this - the web is for consulting, while the book is for studying . Derrick de Kerckhove already said twenty years ago that humanity could not ignore the text written on paper for learning. And yes, he also does personal branding, there's no point in hiding it. But the secret is that it only works if you then sell it. The first edition came out in 2015, the second in 2018, the third we are talking about here comes out now, at the end of 2021. In all these years, the reprints are countless. The SEO Gardening Manual is one of the first 5 books released for Flaccovio's WebBook series, which today has half a dozen titles. The "green book", which this time becomes white (but green inside), is already present in tens of thousands of homes and agencies.
Legend has it that once an intern managed to get the better of his boss during a meeting just by lifting the book and placing it in front of his body, like a shield, an armor against which attacks would break. However, it is not a legend that someone has truly embarked on a path of change after reading the SEO Gardening Manual. There are people who quit their jobs and started doing SEO on their own… and my book was partly responsible for that. I tell you these things because it is a fact that this book, now in its third edition, is one of the three or four most read books in Italy Denmark Telegram Number Data on the topic of SEO, I don't want to say the most appreciated, but I have evidence that a couple of people liked. What do you find in the third edition I have updated many aspects regarding the way I currently do SEO analysis. I took stock of the analysis of index coverage and the criteria with which Google reads web pages, specifying the reasons why Googlebot can get stuck and explaining how to get out of it. I updated the studies on semantics by making new considerations on the operating criteria of the Google translator and publishing a CRAZY contribution by Simone Righini which alone is worth the price of the book.
I reviewed a million details covering topics ranging from strategies for preserving scanning resources to positioning strategies based on the selection and engagement of what I call transversal stakeholders. You will find a new preface by Emanuele Tolomei whom I thank infinitely and a new contribution by Luca Bove on GMB, unmissable . With this third edition, the SEO Gardening manual finally becomes an "adult" book, at times perhaps less easy to read than the first edition, but always aimed at making those who don't understand anything about code understand what SEO really is, such as the undersigned. A book to buy also and above all if you already own one of the two previous editions, because words are important and even a single modified term can revolutionize the meaning of an entire reasoning... and believe me, there are new ones.
